Dealing with children’s foot problems, known as podopaediatrics, is a subspecialty of podiatry that not all podiatrists are trained or experienced in. At Bio Podiatry we are trained to assess, make a diagnosis, offer advice and prescribe a treatment, should it be required.
All children’s feet are flat and fat when they are born and start walking. Most feet gradually develop an arch and function within normal limits. However, in some situations the foot and lower leg may not develop into the ideal functioning limb required for pain-free function.
Some of the conditions that might warrant intervention are:
- Rigid Flat Feet
- Severs Syndrome (Heel Pain)
- Intoeing
- Outoeing
- Knock Knees
- Bowlegs
- Metatarsus Adductus
- Tripping
- Poor Balance
- Weakness
- Spasticity
- Cerebral Palsy
- Toe Walkers
- Warts
- Ingrown Toenails
- Curly Toes
The treatment is often multi-faceted, involving stretching and strengthening exercises, gait advice, splints and braces or orthotics.
Bio Podiatry can guide you through all these options and instigate the interventions that are required.
