What happens on your first visit to Sydney’s Bio Allied Health?

During your first appointment at Sydney’s Bio Allied Health, the primary goal is to assess the health of your feet and identify any underlying issues.

Medical history – Our podiatrist will begin by

  • taking a comprehensive medical history
  • asking about any foot problems, injuries or surgeries
  • inquiring about any existing medical conditions that may affect your feet.

This information helps us understand your overall health and its potential impact on foot function.

Examination and gait analysis – Then, our podiatrist will perform a thorough examination of your feet. This typically involves visually inspecting the feet and assessing the skin, nails and overall foot structure.

Next, our podiatrist will evaluate your gait (the way you walk) to identify abnormalities or imbalances that may be causing or contributing to foot problems.

Diagnosis – Based on the findings from the examination, our podiatrist will provide a diagnosis and, if needed, develop a tailored treatment plan. This may include recommendations for lifestyle modifications, such as proper footwear or exercises, to alleviate symptoms or prevent further issues.

  • If you have a sports injury or musculoskeletal problem, our podiatrist may instigate a strengthening and stretching program, or recommend shockwave therapy.
  • If your biomechanics are out of alignment and leading to the problem, our podiatrist may recommend orthotics as well.
  • If you have specifically presented to Darlinghurst Podiatrist for general skin and nails, this treatment will occur during the first visit, possibly including:
  • trimming toenails
  • removing calluses
  • dealing with fungal nails
  • providing padding or devices for support.

This initial visit also offers an opportunity for you to ask questions, seek clarification on your condition and discuss any concerns you may have regarding your foot health.

Whatever the reason the podiatrists at Sydney’s Bio Podiatry will ensure you leave satisfied with our service and level of care, being well-informed about the health of your feet and with clear guidance and possible treatment options.
